Meet Courtney

I know you will be as impressed as we are! Courtney was diagnosed at the age of 5 with polyarticular juvenile arthritis and ankylosing spondyarthritis since then she's had to give herself painful injections of chemo and monthly infusions. Courtney does her injections herself! She has videos on her FB page linked below. She has spent the past 2 years in the hospital due to this horrible disease. While most kids... her age are thinking of what to play each day she's thinking of what will cause her the most pain, but she's able to fight through the pain most days continuing to play soccer and dance! She even received an award in PE!! Courtney loves art as well- she named her team Creative Courtney's battle with JIA; she designed her own t- shirt this year for the Walk to Cure Arthritis in her area. Courtney was able to go 4.5 months without meds but then her arthritis came back with a vengeance. Courtney is learning how to be an advocate she testified at a senate hearing for the step therapy bill (SB 41) and loved it. Indiana's Governor signed SB 41 into law earlier this year!! Way to go Courtney!!! As if all of this wasn't enough Courtney loves to serve others and bless other children. She has collected many toys for her infusion center and pop tabs from soda cans for the Ronald McDonald House!! Can you believe she is just turned 8? Courtney we can't wait to see all the great things you will continue to do as you grow up! Please go to her FB page
